SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Cork Panels
  • Frame
  • Fabric
  • Scissors
  • All-Purpose Glue Stick
  • Hot Glue Gun/Glue Gun Sticks
  • Fabric Pen/Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Craft Knife
  • Optional: Spray Paint

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Spray paint frame to desired color, or keep frame as is. Glass/plexiglass and backer should be removed.
  2. Cut cork into right angle triangles by cutting cork panel into squares, then cutting each square in half from opposite corner to opposite corner. Triangle length should divide evenly into frame size. Trim triangles if necessary.
  3. Trace cork triangles onto wrong side of fabric. Cut out with an extra 1/2" to 3/4" allowance on each side.
  4. Apply glue with glue stick to top surface and edges of cork triangle. Apply fabric, rubbing top surface to smooth fabric. Pull fabric snugly around edges. Glue excess fabric to back of panel. Excess fabric at corners will be folded under cork when applied to frame backer.
  5. Apply wrapped cork pieces to frame backer panel with hot glue. Be sure to align edges precisely. Any overhanging cork will need to be trimmed away.
  6. Insert completed panel into frame to gauge fit. Trim any excess cork, unwrapping fabric from edge first.
  7. Apply hot glue to inside corners and center inside seam of frame. Quickly place finished panel, right side down, into frame, adding extra pressure to areas where hot glue was applied.
  8. When glue is dry, hang cork board.
