DIRECTIONS:
To find the downloadable patterns click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.NOTE: All stitching uses 1/8" seams.
APPLES:
- Cut out the pattern pieces from the red patterned fabric using the pattern template. Cut the stem pieces from one of the green fabrics. Cut the leaf pieces from the other green fabric, using the pinking shears. Set aside stem and leaf pieces.
- Place two red pieces together with right sides facing. Stitch down one of the sides, stopping 1/4" from the bottom. Repeat around for each of the red pieces until all six pieces are attached. Sew together the first and last pieces to create the apple shape with the bottom hole open. Turn right side out. Stuff the apple firmly. Cut a piece of red thread. Use a running stitch to stitch a circle around the open end. Pull the running stitch to cinch that end closed. Stitch to secure.
- Stitch around the edge and up the middle of the leaf pieces. Stitch the leaf to the top of the apple.
- Place the stem pieces, right sides facing. Stitch up the side, top and other side of the stem, leaving the bottom open. Turn right side out. Stuff the stem. Stitch and cinch the bottom of the stem. Stitch the stem to the top of the apple.
APPLE SLICES:
- Cut out the pattern pieces, red for apple slice skin and cream for apple slice inside.
- Fold the inside piece in half and iron flat. Stitch up the fold side right along the folded edge.
- Pin the two pieces together with right sides facing. Stitch the edges of the pieces together, leaving a small hole for turning. Turn right side out and stuff firmly. Stitch the hole closed.
- With a small paintbrush and brown fabric paint, paint seeds on apple slices.
STRAWBERRIES:
- Cut out the pattern pieces from the red patterned fabric using the pattern template. Cut the leaf pieces from one of the green fabrics, using the pinking shears. Set aside leaf pieces.
- Place two red pieces together with right sides facing. Stitch down the side, bottom, and up the other side of the piece, leaving the top open. Turn right side out. Stuff the firmly. Cut a piece of red thread. Use a running stitch to stitch a circle around the open top. Pull the running stitch to cinch that end closed. Stitch to secure.
- Stitch along the outer edge of the leaf pieces. Stitch to the top of the strawberry.
WATERMELON SLICE:
- Cut out the watermelon pattern pieces from the pink patterned fabric using the pattern template. Cut out the rind pattern pieces from one of the green fabrics using the pattern template, using the pinking shears to cut the shorter arch side.
- Place the rind piece on top of the watermelon piece, with both right sides facing up. Overlap them 1/4". Sew along this overlapping edge. Repeat for each of the pieces.
- Place the two sewn pieces together with right sides facing. Stitch along the edge, leaving a small hole for turning. Turn right side out. Stuff the firmly. Stitch the hole closed.
- With a small paintbrush and black fabric paint, paint seeds on watermelon slices.
