SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Fabric spray (color of choice)
  • Flat leaves or florals
  • Blank white tea towel
  • Drop cloth or cardboard
  • Gloves

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Read the directions on the fabric spray, make sure to shake as directed. In a well-ventilated area, lay out cardboard or a drop cloth to work on.
  2. Lay the tea towel flat on your work surface with the right side up.
  3. Lay out your florals and leaves onto the towel making sure to make them as flat as possible.
  4. Spray the towel with Fabric Spray. Make sure to spray lightly but evenly to cover the fabric a solid color but not too hard as to blow the leaves and flowers off the towel.
  5. Once the whole towel is sprayed remove the leaves and florals carefully and let the dye dry. Follow the directions on the fabric spray for care.

JOANN HACKS:

  • Help to keep the florals and leaves from moving by holding them with one hand while spraying them. You will want to make sure to move your hand to new spots while spraying so you don’t cover the towel with your hand leaving a blank space.
  • Change gloves between colors if making different color towels as to not leave color from the gloves onto the surface.
