SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Fabric
- Box of Choice
- Yarn
- Scissors
- Spray Glue
- Hot Glue Gun
- Pom Pom Maker
DIRECTIONS:
- Fit the gift box with fabric to determine the amount of fabric needed for wrapping the present. Trim fabric to size with scissors.
- Lightly apply spray glue to the wrong side of fabric and let dry until tacky.
- Place the gift box face down on the package and smooth fabric on top. Continue wrapping the fabric around the present so the edges meet on the back of the box.
- Make sure the top is completely smooth, adjust if needed then place the box top down on your work surface. Fold in the ends starting with the sides. Press the fabric against the box and crease the edges folding the fabric against each other at the top and bottom to create crisp folds.
- Fold down the top flap and secure with hot glue along the edge. Repeat with the bottom edge folding up and securing with glue.
- Repeat on the other side.
- Wrap the present with string multiple times to create a band around the present. Knot in place on the top.
- Create pom poms from yarn following the directions on your pom pom maker.
- Tie the pom poms to the present with the yarn and trim off any excess yarn.
Craft Hack Tips and Tricks:
- Apply thin coats of spray adhesive/glue. It may be easier to work in smaller sections doing one side at a time, applying glue as you go. Do this if you are having trouble working with the whole fabric piece tacky.
- Allowing the glue to slightly dry and be tacky rather than freshly wet allows the glue to stick better.
- Spraying glue too close to the fabric may result in buildup and puddling. Keep the can in motion for a consistent coat and approximately 8-12" away from your fabric.
- If you do not have a pom pom maker, you can wrap yarn around your fingers or a piece of cardboard. The number of times you wrap around will help determine the thickness of the pom pom, the size of the cardboard or number of fingers you use will determine the width of the pom pom. The wider you make it the thicker you will need to make it to make a full pom pom. Once you have it wrapped, tie a knot in the center with a piece of yarn and trim all the ends. You will need to use scissors to help get the desired sphere shape.
