SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Cotton fabric
- Basic sewing supplies
- 1/2" bias tape maker
- Mask pattern
DIRECTIONS:
- Download the pattern by clicking “download PDF" below Print Description.
- Cut your pattern from your fabric.
- Cut pieces to create the bias tape. You'll need two pieces that are about 48" long and 2" wide. You'll also need two pieces that are 4"x 2".
- Use a bias tape maker to create ½ inch double fold bias tape or do it yourself by ironing the strap in half, then folding the two sides again to meet the centerfold.
- With right sides together sew two mask pieces along the center seam. Repeat with the other two mask pieces.
- You should now have two mask pieces. Pin them right sides together. Stitch using a 3/8" seam allowance along the top and bottom of the mask.
- Turn your mask right sides out and press.
- Pin your short pieces of bias tape to the sides of the mask. Topstitch and press.
- Measure 18 1/2" of bias tape and pin. At the pin is where you'll want to start tucking your mask into the bias tape. Pin your bias tape along the top of the mask and then measure 18 1/2" from the edge of your mask. Clip off the excess bias tape. Repeat this process for the bottom of the mask.
- Topstitch the top straps by starting at the end of a strap and stitch all the way to the other end. To finish off the straps fold the ends up a half inch and topstitch to secure. Repeat this process with the bottom straps.
- Press.

Interesting mask
I agree that this involves basic sewing skills, but as written, it can be confusing for a beginner. Using purchased bias tape edging would be more useful for a zero-knowledge sew-er or one who has not done much sewing. Making your own bias tape is a pain, and I don't like doing it even though I'm very experienced.

Mask complete, turned out great.
I was looking for a pattern using bias tape with a more fitted design rather than a rectangular shape. This fits the bill for me perfectly. I would say it’s appropriate for a beginning sewer, but not for a complete novice. The design instructions are good, but assume you have some basic knowledge. My mask turned out great using this pattern.

To hard to follow
Even though this is a beginners mask a video Or more pictures would have been helpful. Bias tape is more complicated. I will definitely not do this mask. And I’ve seen a few already
