DIRECTIONS:

NOTE: Use 5/8" seam on pattern.
  1. Follow the fabric amount omitting the satin.
  2. Trace front and back bodice onto Kraft paper. Add an additional 2 1/2" to the length of the front and back to take the place of omitting the satin band.
  3. Cut out the garment with the velvet all going in the same direction.
  4. Cut the ties out of velvet and turn with a loop turner.

JOANN HACKS:

  • Pin velvet every 3" or 4" so it doesn’t start to shift while sewing.
  • Using a velvet foot or a double-sided zipper foot makes sewing velvet easier.
  • Needle size #12 or #14 works well for velvet.
