Fall Cotton Frames
SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Rotary cutter & cutting board
- Quilter's rule or yardstick
- Marking pen or tailor's chalk
- Trim scissors
- Hot glue/glue gun sticks
- Frame
- Fabric, see directions for size
- Iron
DIRECTIONS:
- Remove all backing, inserts and glass from frame. Set aside. Press the fabric. Measure outside edge size of the frame. Determine the direction of print fabric. If stripe or plaid fabric center the frame with the horizontal and/or vertical lines prior to marking for cutting.
- Cut the fabric the width of the frame plus two times the depth of the sides plus the width of the back flat surface of the frame. Cut the fabric the height of the frame plus two times the depth of the sides plus the width of the back flat surface of the frame.
- Lay the fabric on a flat surface WSU. Center the frame WSU on top of the fabric. Attach the fabric with hot glue. Pull the center of one side of fabric up and over the back flat surface of the frame. Glue the center 2" of fabric lining up the cut edge with the inner edge of the back flat surface of the frame. Repeat at center of opposite side. Repeat on other two sides.
- Hot glue from center out to corners on both long sides of frame. If frame is a square glue sides first. On short sides, or top and bottom sides, glue to 2" from corners. At corners fold a small 45 degree angle with the long side fabric. This will match the corner mitre of the frame. Glue in place.
- With the remaining fabric, tuck in at the front corner of the frame and fold to the back. This should create a fold from front to back on the corner of the frame. Glue folds on the back. Repeat.
- Lift a corner of frame and with a finger press the fabric on the front at the inside corner of the frame on the WS of the fabric mark points at corners. On WS of fabric connect the points with diagonal lines across the inside of the frame.
- Measure the depth of the frame (on the inside edge), plus the ridge for the artwork to lay plus the depth of the ridge from the flat back of the frame. This will give the width of fabric needed to wrap around the inside edges of the frame to the inside edge of the flat back.
- On the WS of fabric mark points the determined distance away from the inside edges of the frame. Connect the points from one diagonal corner line to the adjacent diagonal corner line. Cut on the lines. Cut diagonal lines to the corner points.
- Attach the inside edges of fabric starting at the center of one side. Apply a small bead of glue to the ridge of the frame, where the face of the artwork will lay. Press the fabric firmly to flatten the glue. Make sure the cut edge of fabric lines up with the inside edge of the flat back of the frame. Attach the center of the opposite side. Repeat on other two sides. Attach by glue working from the center out to the corners.
- At corners, apply a small bead of glue to the diagonal cut edge and press against frame. Add additional glue to fabric along the depth of the back ridge.
- Reinsert glass, artwork and backing into frame.

Answer to SamS
Try looking under "flower grid".
"Gird" is a typo.

Floral Frames
These looked so cute so I wanted to try to make them. I'm not sure who is running this site and content, but as a retailer, why would you not link the products or the product category page? "Floral Gird"? I searched your site and nothing like that came up. It's so vague and now you're missing out on sales from me because I can't even find the supplies you suggest on your site.
