Item # 262112220P51
Intermediate Weekend Project

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Tee shirt
  • Denim fabric
  • Tear-away embroidery stabilizer
  • Embroidery thread in desired colors
  • Embroidery needle
  • Scissors
  • Water-soluble marker
  • Pattern templates
  • Embroidery hoop
  • Sewing thread
  • Pins
  • Iron

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Use the water-soluble marker to trace the floral pattern onto the shoulder of the tee shirt.
  2. Cut a piece of stabilizer slightly larger than the entire embroidery pattern.
  3. Place the stabilizer on the back of the tee shirt, under the embroidery section. Use sewing thread to baste the stabilizer in place around the outer edge.
  4. Stitch the floral design using a combination of fill stitches such as satin stitch, chain stitch, French knots, etc. Line sections with a backstitch. See the project image for inspiration.
  5. When the embroidery is finished, remove the baste stitches around the stabilizer, and tear away the stabilizer from the back of the project.
  6. Wet the area to remove any marker lines.

  7. Cut a pocket from the denim fabric with the pattern template.
  8. Trace the word "besties" onto the pocket with the water-soluble marker, and then embroider with a split stitch. Wet to remove marker lines. Allow to dry.

  9. Fold the top of the pocket under 1/4" and again another 1/4". Iron flat.
  10. Stitch across the top edge with a running stitch.
  11. Fold the other edges of the pocket in 1/4" and iron flat.
  12. Pin the pocket in place on the front of the tee shirt.
  13. Stitch along the side, bottom, and back up the other side of the pocket with a running stitch.
