DIRECTIONS:
To find the downloadable patterns click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.
  1. Cut out multiple leaves in different colors or patterns.
  2. If you want to add some shimmer, lay them out on a piece of newspaper or in a box.
  3. Hold the Dylusions Shimmer Spray about 6"-8"away from your paper and add layers of color until you get your desired look.
  4. Let them dry completely, flip them over and repeat the process to the other side.
  5. Use a paper piercer and pierce holes in the leaves for hanging.
  6. Cut two 4ft lengths of twine.
  7. Fold your two pieces of twine in half and tie a loop for hanging in the middle, leaving four tails hanging down.
  8. Separate the inner rings of both embroidery hoops.
  9. First with the 12" hoop, tie each tail to the hoop evenly around, again leaving a tail to add the second 9" hoop. Tie the knots loose at first. Once you have them even and are happy with the length, tighten and add a drop of Gorilla Clear Grip Glue to the knot to secure. Do the same to the 9" hoop. Once you are again happy with the length and it seems to be hanging even, tighten and add the Gorilla Clear Grip glue to the knots to secure.
  10. Depending on how long you wish to make your mobile, cut lengths of the Jelly Cord and tie to the inner hoop first. Start adding leaves to the jelly cord, tying a knot below each leaf to hold in place.
  11. Add as many or as few cords of leaves you wish to get your desired look. Some cords can be shorter or longer than others.

JOANN HACKS:
  • Lay the hoops on a table or flat work surface to tie the knots. This will help you get them even so it hangs straight.
  • Hang the hoops up while you are tying on the leaves to make the process much easier.
  • Depending on where you punch the hole for hanging, you can change the direction of the leaf "falling" when it's hung.
  • The paper may curl a little when the shimmer spray is added, so let the leaves dry with the curl for a more natural look. Add a small drop of the Gorilla Clear Grip glue to each knot behind its leaf to secure in place.
