SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Simplicity 8797
- Fabric on pattern envelope minus 1/2 yd
- Lining on pattern envelope or the same as coat yardage
- 5" each of 4 different colors to complement coat fabric for bottom trim
- 1" button
- 1 Bag of cushion wrap or similar to quilting
- Sewing notions
DIRECTIONS:
- Cut blocks 2 1/2"x 5" of the 4 different fabrics. Sew with a 1/4" seam allowance on all blocks. Arrange and sew 2 blocks horizontal and 2 vertical together. Sew all blocks together to equal the width of coat.
- Cut out coat and quilt wrap. Place and pin quilting wrap under coat fabric. Mark with chalk or use sewing guide to quilt at an angle every 1 1/2" on coat, sleeve, collar.
- Attach finished blocks to bottom of coat. Cut and sew a 1 1/2" trim at the bottom of blocks. Quilt the blocks following block lines.
- Finish coat as instructed to pattern.
