SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Wool Fabric Cuts:
- 6 1/2" x 10" (Bow)
- 4 1/2" x 4" (Tie)
- 3" x 15" (Neck Band)
- Fusible lightweight interfacing
- Sew-on soft Velcro
- Hand Sewing Needles
- Thread
- Sewing Machine
DIRECTIONS:
- Press and fold the edges of the neck band 1/4", same method for bias tape.
- Fold again and press, top stitch along the edge.
- Finish off the edges of the neck band, serge or press and stitch.
- On the wrong side of the bow, apply the fusible interfacing to the top half of the bow.
- Fold the bow right sides together, stitch the top edge 1/4" leaving the side seams open.
- Turn the bow to the right side, fold right sides together to stitch the side seams.
- For the tie, press and fold the edges of the neck band 1/4", same method for bias tape.
- Fold again and press, top stitch along the edge.
- Fold the bow in a "sandwich" effect, wrap the tie around the center of the bow to secure it and hand baste, creating a loop.
- Take the neckband and loop it through the tie. Hand stitch the placement to tack the neckband to the bow tie.
- Once the bow tie is completed, stitch 3" of Velcro on the neckband for the closure.
JOANN HACKS:
- Top stitch the bow with decorative thread for a professional finish.
- Apply a small amount of fusible interfacing to help secure the neckband to the bowtie, then hand stitch the placement.
