SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Plastic Ornaments, Various Shapes
- Acrylic Paint
- White Acrylic Gesso
- Paint Brush
- Small Tip Black Markers
- Small Tip White Markers
- Felt
- Fabric Scraps
- Poms
- Scissors
- Hot Glue Gun/Glue Gun Strips
- Scrap Paper
- Pencil
DIRECTIONS:
- Sketch faces on scrap paper before starting.
- Paint ornaments white using gesso. Paint 2-3 coats for maximum coverage.
- Sketch faces on white gesso. Add color, using multiple coats as needed. Allow paint to dry completely between coats and before applying marker.
- Reapply pencil lines as needed on dry paint. Trace with black or white marker.
- Add pom, felt, or fabric embellishments as desired. Attach with glue.
BOW
- Cut or tear a long strip of fabric 1"-1 1/2" wide.
- Fold in edges and hem with hot glue.
- Fold in right and left edges to create bow.
- Trim excess fabric.
- Use a small piece of excess fabric to wrap around center of bow.
- Glue closed and attach to ornament with hot glue.
SCARF
- Cut or tear a long strip of fabric 1"-1 1/2" wide.
- Fold in edges and hem with hot glue.
- Wrap around around ornament and trim to desired length.
- Add felt fringe to ends of scarf.
JOANN HACKS:
- Use ornaments upside down for more shape variation and to create a "neck" for the characters.
- Use existing string or make your own hanger out of string or wire and hot glue to bottom of ornament.
