Beginner Varies

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • LION BRAND® OFF THE HOOK FAUX FUR: Baked Alaska, 1 ball

  • SIZE:
  • Finished Circumference about 25"
  • Finished Height about 8"

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Set Up
  2. Pull out the end of the yarn and count out 27 loops. With your thumb and index finger, reach through the 27th loop and pull the first loop through so that the yarn makes a ring. This ring will be the beginning of your Hat. Check that all the loops on the ring are facing up.
  3. Make your Cowl
  4. Now you'll be working around and around the 26 loops on the ring.
  5. The yarn that's coming from the yarn ball is called the working yarn.
  6. Hold the working yarn behind the loops on the ring.
  7. With your thumb and index finger, reach through the next loop on the ring.
  8. Pull the next loop from the working yarn through the loop on the ring.
  9. Working around the ring, continue to pull the next loop of working yarn through the next loop on your ring.
  10. Continue to pull up loops around the ring until your Cowl measures about 8" from the beginning.
  11. Finish your Cowl
  12. Now you'll need to finish off your loops.
  13. Working around the loops on the ring in the same direction (clockwise), pull the second loop through the first; pull the third loop through the second; pull the fourth through the third - and so on across to the end of the ring.
  14. Hide the Yarn Tail
  15. Carefully snip the remaining 5 loops from the strand of working yarn. Just snip the loops off, don't cut through the working yarn. Pull this strand of working yarn through the last loop on the Cowl to finish off, then pull the trimmed yarn tail through the loops on the inside of your Cowl to hide it.
  16. Pull the beginning and ending tails of the yarn through the loops on the inside of the Cowl to secure them.

JOANN TIP:

  • This yarn is designed so that the loops stay in place - you can set the Hat down at any point and the loops won't come undone.
