Faux Roman Shade

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • For each window:
  • Determine Fabric Amount According to your Measurements
  • Same Amount of Lining Fabric
  • Four 1/2" Diameter Tension Rods
  • Sewing Machine
  • Basic Sewing Supplies

DIRECTIONS:

NOTE: 1/2" seam allowance.
  1. Measure the inside width and length of window.
  2. Add 1 1/2" to the width measurement.
  3. Add 5" to length measurement.
  4. These two numbers are cutting size for both fabric and lining.
  5. Place fabric and lining right sides together and pin the length seams.
  6. Stitch 1/2" seams and turn rso and press.
  7. Finish top and bottom widths by serging or zigzag edge.
  8. Fold top and bottom edges to back 2 1/4" and press.
  9. Stitch 3/8" from finished edge and press shade.
  10. Insert one tension rod in window 6" to 8" from top.
  11. Insert another rod 6" to 8" down from first rod. These can be moved to your liking.
  12. Insert one rod I top channel of shade and then into top of window opening.
  13. Fourth rod can be placed into bottom channel and either left to hang as a weight or inserted in window.

JOANN HACKS:

  • Use a 1/2" wooden dowel cut to size for bottom if not anchoring shade.
