Teaching kids how to label emotions, identify them in the moment & cope with them are important tools to teach them from a very young age. This project helps give adults a tool to start those conversations.

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- 9"x 12" felt [multicolor assortments are available]
- Fabric scissors
- Masking tape or painter’s tape [optional]
DIRECTIONS:
- This project creates a felt feelings face board. The felt shapes can be rearranged and reused.
- Print the patterns provided. using scissors, cut out shapes individually and decide which color you are using for each shape.
- These patterns are now ready to use as templates—trace and cut shapes from felt. Use masking tape or painter’s tape to gently and temporarily attach templates to felt if you prefer to cut without tracing.
- To cut shapes with internal holes, like the glasses, gently fold the felt and snip a starter cut.
JOANN HACKS:
- Work together: kids can cut the simple, bigger shapes, leaving the more intricate ones to be cut by an adult.
- Tracing template shapes on the felt can leave pencil or pen marks; outline the shapes on the felt’s reverse side for a cleaner look.
