STITCH EXPLANATIONS
BPdc (Back Post double crochet) Yarn over, insert hook from back to front then to back, going around post of indicated st, draw up a loop, (yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice. Skip top of st in front of the BPdc.
dc-3rd (double crochet in 3rd loop) Yarn over, insert hook in 3rd loop of indicated st and draw up a loop, (yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice. Note: When working in rnds without turning, the 3rd loop is on the side of the piece that is facing away from you, immediately below the back loop.
FPdc (Front Post double crochet) Yarn over, insert hook from front to back then to front, going around post of indicated st, draw up a loop, (yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice. Skip top of st behind the FPdc.
picot Ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook.
NOTES
Blanket is worked in one piece, back and forth in rows.
Yarn color is changed on every row following Stripe Sequence.
To change yarn color, work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete st. Proceed with new color. Fasten off old color.
Border is worked in rnds around outside edge of Blanket.
STRIPE SEQUENCE
Work 1 row each with A, * B, C, D, E, F, G, F, E, D, C, B, A; rep from * for 6 more times for a total of 85 rows for Stripe Sequence.
TO BEGIN
With A, ch 97.
Row 1: With A, dc in 4th ch from hook (3 skipped ch count as dc) and in each ch across; change to B in last st - you will have 95 dc in this row.
Row 2: With B, ch 3 (counts as dc, turn, dc in next 2 sts, FPdc around next st, * dc in next 3 sts, FPdc around next st; rep from * to last 3 sts, dc in next 2 sts, dc in top of beg ch-3 and change to C.
Row 3: With C, ch 3, turn, BPdc around next st, * dc in next 3 sts, BPdc around next st; rep from * to last st, dc in top of beg ch-3 and change to D.
Rep Rows 2 and 3 and continue to change yarn color following Stripe Sequence until all 85 rows of Stripe Sequence have been worked. Do not change yarn color at end of last row.
BORDER
Rnd 1: Continue with A, ch 1, hdc in each st around working 3 hdc in each corner; join with sl st in first hdc.
Rnd 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc-3rd in each st around working 3 dc-3rd in center hdc of each 3-hdc corner; join with sl st in top of beg ch-3.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, hdc in each st around working 3 dc in center dc of each 3-dc corner; join with sl st in first hdc.
