Stitch Explanation
sc2tog (sc 2 sts together) (Insert hook in next st and draw up a loop) twice, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook - 1 st decreased.

NOTES:
Tote is made from a rectangle, worked back and forth in rows.
Rectangle is folded in half, then the sides are crocheted together.
Handles are worked in rnds, directly onto top edge of Tote.
Yarn color is changed following Chart. To change yarn color, work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete the st. Proceed with new color.
Read RS rows of Chart from right to left and WS rows from left to right. Each square of Chart represents one single crochet st worked in the indicated color. It helps to use a highlighter to keep track of your rows.
Chart is worked in intarsia crochet. Do not carry colors not in use across WS of work. Wind yarn into smaller separate balls before beginning and use a separate ball for each section of color.

TO BEGIN
With A, ch 57.
Row 1 (RS): With A, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across - you will have 56 sc in this row.
Rows 2-70: With A, ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.

CHARTED PATTERN
Row 71: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across AND change yarn color following Row 71 of Chart.
Rows 72-132: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across AND continue to change yarn color following Chart until all rows of Chart have been completed.
Fasten off.

FINISHING
Fold piece in half, bringing RS together, matching sts of first and last rows at top, and matching ends of rows along both side edges.

JOIN SIDES
From WS, draw up a loop of A in one lower corner at fold; working through both thicknesses, sc evenly along side edge to top corner.
Fasten off.
Rep to join opposite side edge, but do not fasten off.

HANDLES
Turn piece RS out.
From RS, with strand of A still attached to Tote, continue as follows:
Rnd 1: Ch 1, work 57 sc evenly spaced along top edge to next side seam, then work 57 sc evenly spaced along remaining top edge; do not join, work in continuous rnds (spiral) - 114 sc.
Place marker in last sc made to indicate end of rnd. Move marker up as each rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: Sc in each st around.
