SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Assorted colors of felt
- Sewing needle
- Sewing thread
- Sequins
- Scissors
- Pen or marker
- Polyfil® stuffing
- Hot glue gun/glue gun sticks
- Rope or string
DIRECTIONS:
- Use scissors to cut out patterns - Star 1, Star 2, Moon 1 and Moon 2.
- Trace patterns on felt using a marker or pen. Use layout template as a guide for the number of shapes to cut out. Each shape will require two felt shapes that will be sewn together.
- Cut out shapes using scissors.
- Add sequins to the shapes using a simple stitch with a needle and thread.
- Place shape with sequins on top of matching shape. Sew a running stitch along the edge of the shape, leaving about 2" open.
- Add Polyfil stuffing into the shape, making sure to push the stuffing to the ends of each point on the stars and crescent moon shapes.
- Once the shape is filled, complete the running stitch along the edge and tie a knot to secure.
- Repeat for each of the shapes.
- Use hot glue to attach string or rope to the tops of several of the shapes so they hang lower on the garland.
- Cut two pieces of rope or string about 6' in length for the garland.
- Use the layout template as a guide to layout the shapes on the garland. For the hanging shapes with rope or string, tie them to the garland rope. Use hot glue to attach other shapes to the garland.

Together in celebration
Thank you JoAnn for making your many Muslim customers feel seen. It’s nice to not have to come up with all our own designs and ideas for crafts to celebrate our beloved traditions. Thank you for the love. It’s nice to feel our loyalty reciprocated with affirmation. I will be more proud now to introduce my children to your store as a place which includes and inspires its Muslim customers.
