DIRECTIONS:

  1. Find an inspiration image that best represents the month. On a separate sheet of paper, translate the image into a sketch that will fit on a two-page spread of the journal.
  2. Identify stickers that will best complement the inspiration image. Rough cut the stickers.
  3. Lay the stickers and image on the journal in desired locations. With a pencil, lightly draw the image and location marks for the stickers onto the journal pages. Soften any dark pencil lines with an eraser prior to applying marker colors. Add any additional notes, sketches and the month name to complete the design. Choose a color scheme for the pages. Use the markers to complete the sketches. Attach the stickers. Add additional dimensional items that correspond to the theme.
  4. Envelope may be made from a square sheet of paper. Size of paper should be two times the desired size of the envelope. Mark the center of the paper on the inside of the envelope. Fold two opposite corners of the square to the center point mark. These are the sides of the envelope. If desired, cut curves on the two other corners. Fold one of the curved corners up to the center and with tape or glue connect to the side folds. This creates the bottom pocket of the envelope. Fold the top curved corner down to overlap the other corners. Embellish the envelope with stickers or other decorations.

CRAFT HACK TIPS & TRICKS:

  • Follow the grid pattern on the pages to keep the individual parts of the design in line with one another.
  • If buttons are used, the backs may cut off with wire cutters. Use a small piece of sandpaper or a nail file to flatten any remaining lumps prior to gluing with Power Tac.
