SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Play Mat (approx. 30"x 36")
  • Assorted flannel and Minky fabrics for thirty 6 1/2" squares
  • 1yd extra loft batting
  • 1 1/2yd fabric for backing
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Fabric blocks
  • Assorted flannel and Minky fabrics for thirty 6 1/2" squares
  • 1 1/4yd fleece interfacing
  • Assorted ribbon (various colors & widths)
  • 2 lbs poly-fil stuffing
  • Basic sewing supplies

DIRECTIONS:

  1. 1/4" seam allowance
  2. PLAY MAT:
  3. Cut thirty 6 1/2" squares from fabric.
  4. Sew squares in 6 rows of 5 squares each.
  5. Press.
  6. Layer WST backing and front, with batting behind backing.
  7. Stitch around edges using a 1/2" seam leaving an opening for turning.
  8. Turn. And stitch opening closed.
  9. Stitch in the ditch around all squares.
  10. PLAY BLOCKS:
  11. Cut thirty 6 1/2" squares from flannel and interfacing.
  12. Cut ribbon 3 1/2".
  13. Pin interfacing to back of each square.
  14. Fold ribbon in half and baste to fabric squares at various spots.
  15. Stitch 4 blocks together with 1/4" seam.
  16. Stitch ends of the 4 blocks together forming tube.
  17. Stitch one square to bottom and one square to top of block leaving an opening for turning.
  18. Turn and stuff.
