DIRECTIONS:
NOTE:
Approximate overall length 46".
Seam Allowance 1/3" unless otherwise noted.

Cut flannel:

Mat, 2 at 25" W x 42" L
Ties, 2 at 5" x 33"
Pillow, 1 at 25" W x 22" L
Fold pillow right sides together to 11"x 25". Sew 3 sides leaving 4" open in center of one 11" side. Clip corners. Turn right sides out. Press opening edges in to match seam. Set aside.
Fold ties in half long ways, right sides together. Stitch along the long side using 1/2" seam allowance. Press the seam open, centering the seam down the tie.
Turn ties right sides out. Center the seam down the middle of the tie and press. The side with the seam will be the inside of the tie.
Tuck ends in 1/2” and top stitch around the edge of the ties to close both ends.
Sew Velcro 1/4" from ends of tie. Place one side of Velcro on outside of the tie and one on the inside so they will connect when wrapped around the mat.
Fold tie in half with the insides facing out. Place fold on bottom, 25" raw edge of mat panel, lining up edges. Outer edge of ties should be 4 1/2" from side of mat panel. Baste 1/4" from edge.
Pin ties up to center of mat panel to hold away from edges of mat. Place pillow on top of same mat panel right sides together. Match top edge of mat with one 25" edge of pillow. Sew using 1" seam allowance. Fold pillow up away from mat. Press seam toward mat. Set aside.
Fold back one 25" edge of second mat panel 1", top edge, press. Mark for quilting on panel. Start lines 4 1/2" in from sides and 4 1/2" up from bottom edge. Mark every 4". Mark 9 lines from bottom to top and 5 lines side to side.
Place two mat panels right sides together matching bottom corners. Sew using 1/4" seam allowance around sides and bottom.
Layer batting. Sew mat panels, right sides together, to batting using 1/2" seam allowance around sides and bottom. Clip corners. Turn right sides out. Press to stack sides and bottom seams. Topstitch on 4" marks.
Pin open top edge of mat over pillow/mat stitching. Topstitch or blind stitch to close.
Fill pillow with Fiber Fill. Do not over stuff. Blind stitch opening closed.
Roll pillow onto mat. Wrap ties around opposite sides of mat and secure with Velcro.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I made one for my 2 year old granddaughter and she loves it🥰

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Need better instructions The instructions are horrible. It is like a page is missing. The part about the batting and the quilting stitching is completely non existent. I figured it out but I expect more from Joann Fabric's. For the money we spend at the store they could put a little effort in the instructions, this is not the first project that has poor instructions.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Is anyone from Joann’s reading reviews? If anyone from Joann is reading the numerous reviews, maybe a little help with video or photos might save people time and maybe even get people interested in this, very cute, project.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great idea! I made a couple of these and adjusted the length for adults. I also made them with several layers of batting. These were perfect for camping.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cute pattern This pattern would have been much easier with photos or pictures. It took me days at a time to figure it out. After making one, now I can do it much faster but it should not have taken me 10 to get through the whole project.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty much sewing straight lines. Not sure what is confusing about the instructions to so many people. They are pretty much step by step. Make the pillow section, make the ties for rolling up, then make the main section and attach to pillow section. Pretty simple i thought. But then luckily I have always had the ability and skill to visualize the written word.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Read the instructions While I agree with other reviewers, pictures for certain steps would be very helpful I still think the instructions are just fine if you take your time and actually read them. As with any written pattern for any craft, reading the instructions for the pattern in its entirety before committing to the project is a must. This doesn't sound any more confusing than any other project with many pieces, I've ever come across.
