Flannel Pennant Pillow

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Fat Quarter (18"x 21") each - print flannel and contrast Flannel
  • 1 bag - poly-fil
  • Basic sewing supplies

DIRECTIONS: (1/2" seam allowance)

  1. With RST, layer print and contrast together.
  2. Mark center edge on one 18" side.
  3. To Cut Triangle - Place edge of ruler at center 9" mark across diagonally to top of opposite 18" side and cut.
  4. Place edge of ruler at center 9" mark again and cut diagonally to opposite top of 18" side.
  5. Using the scrap fabric cut off from triangle, cut two 2"x 14" rectangles for tassels.
  6. Fold each in half lengthwise and press.
  7. Open up and fold each long side to center and press again.
  8. Refold to have two 1"x 14" strips.
  9. Topstitch each long side of strips.
  10. Fold each strip in half and pin to right side of front of pillow 4" in from each side. Baste in place.
  11. With RST, pin and stitch around pennant, being careful not to catch end of tassels in stitching. Leave an opening for turning.
  12. Turn and stuff.
  13. Sew opening closed.
