DIRECTIONS:

To find the downloadable patterns click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.
  1. Cut outside and inside flannel panels for organizer.
    • Outside: 17 1/2" W x 9" H.
    • Inside: 3 panels, 6 1/4" W x 9" H (left), 6 1/2" W x 9" H (center), 5 1/4" W x 9" H (right).
  2. Fuse midweight web to wrong side of flannel panels.
  3. Position inside panels in correct order on flat surface. Set aside.

OUTSIDE

  1. Transfer image of Zodiac Constellation onto vinyl, approximate size 1 1/2"x 1 1/2".
  2. Cut vinyl to a square or rectangle 1/2" wider than image on each side. Slightly round corners.
  3. With outside panel right side up, position right side and bottom of vinyl 1 1/4" from right bottom corner. Sew 1/8" from edges of vinyl.
  4. Apply beads to vinyl.
  5. Cut cotton quilt batting 9"x 17 1/2".
  6. Baste cotton batting to wrong side of the outside panel, 1/8" from edges. Set outside panel aside.

INSIDE

  1. Cut the following flannel parts. Fuse Wonder Under to the wriong side of parts indicated with (WU).
    • INSIDE LEFT:
      • Ring tube, 3" W x 9" H
      • Pocket w/zipper, 8" W x 9" H, 3 1/2" W x 9" H, (WU)
    • INSIDE CENTER:
      • Vertical loops, 3 at 2 1/2" W x 4" H
      • Horizontal loops, 6 3/4" W x 2 1/2" H
      • Pockets, 6 1/2" W x 7" H, (WU)
    • INSIDE RIGHT:
      • Flap, 4 3/4" W x 4 1/2" H, (WU)
      • Pocket, 5 1/4" W x 5" H, (WU)
      • Position parts on top of inside panels using template as a guide.
    • CUT:
      • Velcro, 6 at 3/4"x 3/4"
      • VINYL EARRING STRAPS:
      • 3 at 1" W x 4 3/4" L, cut one end with a 1" circumference curve
      • 3 at 1" W x 1 1/2" L

INSIDE PANELS:
INSIDE LEFT
  1. Ring tube: Fold one short end back 1/4", press.
  2. Right sides together, fold in half lengthwise and sew length using 1/4" seam allowance.
  3. Turn right side out. Center seam on one side.
  4. Mark and press 1" from folded end. Sew at mark.
  5. Lightly stuff tube to 2" from open end.
  6. Mark 1 1/2" from open end. Fold in raw edges 1/2". Sew at mark.
  7. On seam side of tube, on flat ends, center one soft half of Velcro. Sew Velcro in place.
  8. Sew opposite side of Velcro in place on right side of left panel (see template).
  9. Test fit tube in place. Leave tube detached from inside panel until organizer is complete.

POCKET WITH ZIPPER:
  1. Remove paper backing from Wonder Under.
  2. Fold both flannel pieces in half to 4" W x 9" H and 1 3/4"x 9". Press.
  3. Folded 9" edge of smaller panel and 9" raw edge of larger panel right sides together.
  4. Baste 1/2" from edge. Press seam open.
  5. Lay panel wrong side up with the small panel on left.
  6. Set zipper centered on seam, pull 1" from top edge. Sew in zipper.
  7. Start and stop stitching 3/4" in from top and bottom of panel.
  8. Trim away zipper sections 1/2" from top and bottom edges of fabric.
  9. Remove basting stitches.
  10. Fold and press 9" flannel edge of large panel back 1/2".
  11. Sew on fold to right side of left panel (see template). Folded edge will be inside pocket.
  12. Line up top, bottom and right edges of pocket with right panel edges.
  13. Baste 1/8" from raw edges. Set aside.

INSIDE CENTER
VERTICAL LOOPS:
  1. Fold RST to 1 1/4" W x 4" L.
  2. Sew 1/4" SA. Trim to 1/8".
  3. Press seam open and centered on one side.
  4. Sew one end closed 1/8".
  5. Trim corners.
  6. TRSO.
  7. Press.
  8. Repeat.
  9. Sew two halves of Velcro to seam side of each loop (see template).
  10. Position on RS of center panel Velcro side up as per template.
  11. Repeat.
  12. Baste 1/8" from top raw edges.

HORIZONTAL LOOPS:
  1. Fold RST lengthwise.
  2. Sew 1/4" SA.
  3. TRSO.
  4. Center seam on one side.
  5. Press.
  6. Position on RS of center panel seam side down as per template.
  7. Match side raw edges.
  8. Loop strip longer than W of inside center panel.
  9. Baste 1/8" from side raw edges.

POCKETS:
  1. Remove paper backing from WU.
  2. Fold WST in half to 6 1/2" W x 3 1/2" H, press.
  3. Position on center, folded edge up, matching bottom and side edges.
  4. Baste 1/8" from edges.
  5. Seams between horizontal loops and pockets: Mark locations of seams as per template.
  6. Shift loop strip to create lift between each seam.
  7. Sew on marks backstitching at start and stop.

INSIDE RIGHT
EARRING BARS:
  1. See template for locations of holes, snaps and bars.
  2. Use hole punch to create earring holes in 4 3/4" bars.
  3. Attach snaps.
  4. Position bars on inside right panel matching side edges.
  5. Baste 1/8" from side edges.

FLAP:
  1. Remove paper backing from WU.
  2. Fold RST to 2 3/8" x 4 1/2".
  3. Sew 1/4" from side 2 3/8" edges.
  4. Trim corners.
  5. TRSO.
  6. Press.
  7. Sew Velcro to one side (see template).
  8. Fold raw edges 1/2" toward Velcro side.
  9. Position on RS of right panel.
  10. Sew on fold.
  11. Sew close to raw edge.

POCKET:
  1. Remove paper backing from WU.
  2. Fold WST in half to 5 1/4" W x 2 1/2" H. Press.
  3. Sew Velcro to one side (see template).
  4. Position on RS of right panel Velcro side out, folded edge up, matching bottom and side edges.
  5. Baste 1/8" from edges.
  6. RST sew inside panels together 1/4" SA.
  7. Left to center, center to right.
  8. Match side edges. Press seams to center.
  9. WST outside and inside.
  10. Match edges.
  11. Baste together 1/8" from edges.
  12. Pin inside to outside at seams between inside panels.
  13. Sew from top to bottom on seams.

BIAS TAPE:
  1. Organizer perimeter, 2" W x 56" L (two pieces joined)
  2. Tie, 2" x 36"
  3. Join strips for perimeter bias.
  4. Double fold.
  5. Attach tape around perimeter.

TIE:
  1. Fold in ends 1/4", press.
  2. Double fold length sides, press.
  3. Sew close to both edges.
  4. Hold tape single fold edge up.
  5. Measure 11" in from left end.
  6. Place mark for attaching tie centered vertically on inside left perimeter bias tape stitch line.
  7. Place tie 11" mark at mark on bias tape stitching.
  8. Sew matching bias stitching and next to bias tape edge to secure.
  9. Fold inside right panel on top of center panel.
  10. Fold inside left panel on top. Wrap long end of tie around the back of the organizer.
  11. Tie to the short end of tie on the right side of the organizer.
