  1. Pre-wash fabric. Mark on side of bottle where vertical side starts to taper to neck of bottle.
  2. Measure from the bottom edge of the bottle up to the mark (straight side H) add 1/2". This is measurement "A".
  3. Measure from the mark up to the underside of the lip of the bottle. Multiply this number by 2 and then add 2". This is measurement "B".
  4. Measure the circumference of the bottle and add 1 5/8". This is measurement "C".
  5. Measure the bottom diameter (bottom) add 1". This is measurement "D".
  6. Cut a rectangle "A" x "C" for the sides: 2 of fabric, 1 of batting.
  7. Cut a rectangle "B" x "C" for the drawstring panel: 1 fabric.
  8. Cut circles with a diameter of "D" for the bottom: 2 fabric, 1 batting.
  9. Layer and baste edges of bottom, 2 fabric right sides out with batting between. Repeat for sides. Quilt using stitch pattern of choice. Set aside.
  10. Double fold the "B" sides of drawstring panel in 1/4" then again 1/4". Press and sew close to fold.
  11. Fold both "C" bottom edges back 1/2". Press. Sew close to fold.
  12. Fold panel in half lengthwise wrong sides together. Press. Mark and sew 5/8" down from fold to create drawstring channel. Set aside.
  13. To make bias tape for top of straight side panel, cut contrast fabric "C" x 2" W. Fold in half length wise and then fold edges in again toward the center. Press.
  14. Open fold of tape. Lay raw edge of tape flush with top edge of side panel. Sew on fold of tape, 1/2" down from top of panel. Fold tape over panel with tape folded edge extending beyond front stitching. Use fabric clips to hold in place. Sew directly below front bias tape edge to secure. Set aside.
  15. Drawstring: Cut a piece of fabric ("C" x 3) x 1"W. Fold ends in 1/4". Press. Fold again to 1/4". Press. Sew zig zag stitch down the length of the drawstring.
  16. Shoulder strap: Cut one print fabric, L To determine the length, measure over shoulder or across from shoulder to opposite hip (desired position for bottle to hang). Add 2" and (2 x "B") to this length. Cut one piece from flannel, 2 1/4" wide X the determined length. Cut one piece of batting 1/2" wide X the determined length. Fold one long side of fabric back 1/2". Press. Set batting under fold. Fold opposite long side back to batting. Press. Fold again to encase batting. Sew along both long side folds.
  17. Place shoulder straps on back of quilted side panel. Locate as per illustration. Match ends of strap with bottom raw edge of side. Do not twist strap. Sew close to both sides of strap turning at bottom edge of bias tape. Zig zag stitch sides and bottom of straight side panel with strap.
  18. Lay side panel with strap right side down onto grid cutting board. Lay drawstring panel on top. Top edge of drawstring channel should extend to the height of where the lip under cap of bottle begins. Center panel side to side. Pin in place. Sew from front of side panel directly under bias tape to secure the drawstring panel to the side panel. Attach safety pin to one end of drawstring. Insert into drawstring channel. Remove pin and single knot each end of drawstring to prevent pull through.
  19. Fold holder right sides together and sew sides of the side panel using 1/4" seam allowance.
  20. Find and mark the quarter points around the bottom edge of the holder. Find and mark the quarter points of bottom circle. Math the quarter points right sides together. Pin well and sew around the circle using 1/4" Seam allowance.
  21. Turn bag right side out. Insert water bottle in holder.
