DIRECTIONS:

To print the templates, click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.

NOTE: Pay attention to any directional prints - you will want to make sure that you cut them so that they are facing the correct direction.
  1. Cut the 18" x 13" piece into two 6" x 13" rectangles for the tassel end color.
  2. Cut the 18" x 18" piece into three 6" x 18" rectangles for the chain ends and chain center.
  3. Cut the five 12" x 18" pieces into ten 6" x 18" pieces.
  4. Fold all pieces in half, matching short ends together.
  5. Cut corners off of the unfolded ends of each piece, as in the diagram.
  6. One of the chain link ends will have all corners cut off.
  7. Cut a 1" slit in the center near the folded edge of each chain link.
  8. On the link with all corners cut, cut a 1" slit in the center near the unfolded edge as well. See diagram.
  9. On the tassel end pieces, make five cuts spaced 1" apart, about 5" long, through the bottom, unfolded edge. See diagram.
  10. To begin the scarf, loop a tassel end through the bottom slit of the last chain link (the piece with all corners cut and two slits). Make the tassels by tying each top 1" wide strip with its corresponding bottom 1" wide strip on so that there is a knot at the top of each tassel.
  11. Loop the next chain link through the slit at the top of the last chain link - and create the rest of the scarf by looping each link through in the same way.
  12. When you've looped all the chain links, finish the scarf by looping the remaining tassel end, and tying the tassels as before.
