SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Hot glue gun/glue gun sticks
  • Wire cutters
  • Scissors
  • 1/4" natural jute finished garland length with hanger loops at ends
  • Floral & greenery for two 4" garlands:
  • Strawflower stem picks: pink, 4, 3 assorted, 4
  • Strawflower bush: pink, yellow, 4 each
  • Eucalyptus pick: 3 assorted, 6

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cut all the flower heads and leaves off the flower stems.
  2. Glue the bottom edge of the right side of the leaves to the backs of the flower heads. Point the center vein of the stem toward the center of the back of the flower head. The leaves should extend beyond the flower head. See photo.
  3. Lay out all the flowers in a line to consider the color pattern over the length of the garland. Keep the line of flowers throughout construction. Cut and pull apart all the greenery into smaller stems. Divide the bundles of greenery to distribute equal numbers of stems to each garland. Lay the greenery stems on top of the flower heads.
  4. Flip one flower head at a time and glue the greenery to the back, good side facing the same as the flower head. Lay the flower back in line. Repeat.
  5. Create a loop at the end of the jute. Tie off loop with a knot to create a hanger.
  6. Start at the loop end of the jute and glue the back of a flower head to the jute. Alternate sides to attach the flower head next in line. Turn the flowers with greenery so the greenery fills spaces between the flowers. Take time with the glue process to ensure that each flower is secure before moving on to the next flower.
  7. When all flowers and greenery have been attached to the jute create a second loop with knot hanger at the end. Roll the garland to inspect spaces between flowers. Glue together backs of leaves to cover unsightly vacancies between flower heads. Intertwine greenery with flower heads and trim off any greenery in excess.
