Flower Costume Headband

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• 1/4yd Stretch Velvet
• 1/4yd Matching Satin
• 1/4yd Green Sain
• 1 Sheet of Cardstock to Match Stretch Velvet
• Fusible Web
• Fabric Stiffener
• 1/8" Wide Gold Metal Headband
• Low Temp Hot Glue Gun/Glue Gun Sticks
• Iron
• Pattern Templates

DIRECTIONS:

1. Follow directions on Fabric Stiffener. Stiffen satin for leaves and petal lining.
2. Use fusible web to fuse stretch velvet to matching stiffened satin.
3. Trace petals on satin side and cut 6 Template A, 12 Template B, 5 Template C, 6 Template D.
4. Cut each petal at center along marked line.
5. Overlap edges of center cut line by 1/8" to give a slightly cupped shape and hot glue in place on each petal A-C.
6. Use fusible web to fuse stretch velvet to cardstock and cut 1 Template E.
7. Cut to center along marked line. Overlap edges of cut line 1/2" and hot glue in place to create a slight dome shape with velvet on outside of dome.
8. Starting at outer edge of dome, glue 6 petals from Template A evenly distanced and approximately 1/2" in from edge.
9. Next, glue 6 petals from template B evenly distanced and approximately 3/4" from edge of first row of petals.
10. Next, glue remaining 6 petals from template B evenly distanced and approximately 3/4" from edge of second row of petals.
11. Glue 5 petals from Template C approximately 3/4" in from edge of third row of petals.
12. To create the center of flower, tack bottom edge corners from one petal of Template D to center front and back of a second petal of Template D.
13. Glue two more petals of Template D on either side of flower center.
14. Repeat with remaining two petals of Template D.
15. Glue center piece to center of dome.
16. Hot glue flower to metal headband, slightly off center.
17. Cut 4 pattern Template F from stiffened green satin.
18. Hot glue leaves to left and right side of flower where headband crosses the flower.
19. More leaves can be added as desired.
