SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • 1/2yd of Fabric A (gingham cotton for petals and edge)
  • 1/3yd of Fabric B (white cotton for petals)
  • 1/3yd of Fabric C (yellow cotton for front center)
  • 1/3yd of Fabric D (coordinating print for back side center)
  • Polyfill
  • Straight pins
  • Scissors
  • Chalk
  • Basic Sewing Supplies

DIRECTIONS:
  1. Print and cut out templates.
  2. Pin them to appropriate fabrics and cut out. Cut out 10 of Fabric A and 10 of Fabric B.
  3. Pin one petal from Fabric A to one petal from Fabric B with right sides together. Stitch together at one edge with a 1/4" seam allowance. Open and press along seam.
  4. Pin a petal from Fabric A to the Fabric B panel with right sides together. Stitch together along one edge with 1/4" seam allowance. Open and press along seam.
  5. Continue sewing petals together in A,B pattern.
  6. Once you've sewn all ten petals together, pin open edges together with right sides facing. Finish stitching together to complete the ring of petals for the front of the pillow.
  7. Repeat with the rest of the petals to finish the back side.
  8. Pin circle in Fabric C to the interior edge of one of the petal rings with right sides facing. This will take multiple straight pins and require careful maneuvering. Stitch along edge using 1/4" seam allowance. Notch with small v-shape cuts to allow fabric room to lay flat. Remove pins and press seam away from center. Repeat using Fabric D and second ring of petals.
  9. Pin two short ends of pattern piece 3 together with right sides facing and stitch together with 1/4" seam allowance to make one 66" length. Press seam open.
  10. Pin one long edge of pattern piece 3 along the perimeter of the front of the pillow with right sides facing. Stitch along edge with a 1/4" seam allowance. Remove pins.
  11. Pin opposite long edge of pattern piece 3 along the perimeter of the back of the pillow with right sides facing. Be sure to match up front and back petal colors as well as the shapes.
  12. Stitch short ends of pattern piece 3 together with right sides facing where they meet up and repin. Stitch along edge with a 1/4" seam allowance but leave one petal open. Remove pins. Cut notches in corners and along curves.
  13. Turn right side out and press edges. Stuff with Polyfill. Blind stitch opening closed.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Measurements The measurements are just wrong. If you use the petal template the circle has to be 11 1/4" in diameter or it is too small. The gusset length has to be 73" or it will not fit all the way around the flower. It took more than 20 oz bag of fiberfill to fill the pillow and it did not come out the same as the picture. Very frustrating. I thought I could make this work and I did but was not satisfied with the result.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Flower Pillow The picture and idea are winners. The directions and templates are not.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WOW! Petals on Pattern vs. Picture Incorrect Another confusing pattern, no finished size, says to cut 12 petals (at what size?) Picture shows 10 Petals but pattern says 12 petals. Missing size (inches) to cut on the petals, if I cut the size on the PDF it won't fit the center circle. Please revise/correct this pattern. At least have someone that actually sews review your patterns prior to posting on your main page, this makes Joann's look bad.
