  1. Simplicity 9141: Find waistline on pattern, mark and add a 5/8" seam allowance above waist. Cut out and sew skirt sections as directed on pattern.
  2. Simplicity 8926: Find waistline on pattern, mark and add a 5/8" seam allowance below the waist. Fold under excess pattern.
  3. Make fold lines at 1 5/8" each side of the center front.
  4. This is to eliminate too many gathers.

  7. Complete top as directed on pattern and attach top to gathered skirt.

Craft Hack Tips and Tricks:

  • If available, a gathering foot attachment works well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Skeletal Instructions My sister and I followed this lookbook model to make a dress, and while we were happy with the result, we had to do a lot of guesswork just by looking at the picture, and the instructions were basically worthless at some points. "Make fold lines at 1 5/8 each side of the center front"? Nothing we could guess that this might mean would have eliminated anywhere near the right amount of gathers. Also the place where the waistline is marked on the original pattern is super high up the bodice; adding 5/8" to that spot and cutting there would have created a very short bodice--nothing like the picture.
