Foam & Bead Holiday Ornaments

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • Foam Sheets (in desired colors)
  • Low Temp Hot Glue Gun/Glue Gun Sticks
  • Beads (Gems, stars, etc. in coordinating colors)
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Templates
  • Optional: X-Acto Blade, Cutting Mat

DIRECTIONS:
To find the downloadable patterns click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.
 
  1. Cut the foam sheets into 1/2" by 12" strips, repeat until you have strips in various colors.
  2. Each design is shown using a few different colors to create the design but you can make the ornament monochromatic or switch up the color combinations, as long as you have the same size and number of pieces.

  3. ORNAMENT A:
    • Color 1: five 3" strips, one 2" strip
    • Color 2: one 3" strip, one 2 1/2" strip, one 9" Strip and two 5" strips
    • Color 3: four 3" strips, one 6" strip
    • Color 4: two 3" strips

    ORNAMENT B:
    • Color 1: two 3 1/2" strips, one 3" strip
    • Color 2: two 3" strips, one 2 1/2" strip, two 5 3/4" strips
    • Color 3: one 2 1/2" strip, one 4 3/4" strip, two 6 1/4" strips, two 3 3/4" strips
    • Color 4: two 6" strips, one 5" strip

    ORNAMENT C:
    • Color 1: one 2 1/2" strip, four 3" strips, one 9" strip
    • Color 2: two 3" strips, one 2 1/2" strip, one 7" strip
    • Color 3: four 3" strips, two 2" strips

    ORNAMENT D:
    • Color 1: one 2 1/2" strip, two 5" strips, one 3" strip
    • Various colors: Ten 3" strips

  4. Following the templates provided glue the strips into place creating the ornament. Create the tear drop shapes and circles before assembling them into the overall design to make construction smoother.
  5. Once you have the ornament constructed add beads to the insides the shapes and on the front of the ornament with hot glue.

JOANN HACKS:
  • Apply small dabs of hot glue as to not have glue smearing or showing. Lightly hold the glued foam for a few seconds to cool before releasing so that the shape holds.
