- Fabric B - 5.25" x 1.25", 1.25" x 3.5", 2.25" x 4.25", 1.75" x 2.75"
- Fabric C - 5.25" x 2.5", 1.75" x 3.75"
- Fabric D - 2.25" x 2.5", 1.5" x 3.75"
- Fabric E - 4.5" x 3.5", 1.75" x 2.25"

DIRECTIONS:
Print out patterns in SEE PATTERNS tab for reference.Use a 1/4" seam allowance for the entire project.
Cut out all fabrics in sizes listed above.
8" X 10" FRAME
- Use a sewing machine to stitch diagonal lines in contrasting thread color to piece C. Next, stitch horizontal lines onto piece B.
- Follow the pattern to stitch together the 7" x 9" version.
- Stitch together A, D, B, pressing seams open and flat.
- Stitch together B to C, E to B, and F to A. Press.
- Stitch B/C to E/B to F/A. Press.
- Stitch strip A/D/B to B/C/E/B/F/A. Press.
- Even off edges with a rotary cutter and ruler to make it a perfect rectangle.
- Use a needle and thread to create a large diagonal ladder stitch across the seam line of piece A & D.
- Cross stitch on the seam between pieces E & B.
- Stitch a modified ladder/cross stitch on the left edge of piece F.
5" X 7" FRAME
- Use a sewing machine to stitch diagonal lines in contrasting thread color to piece D.
- Follow the pattern to stitch together the 4" x 6" version.
- Stitch together B to C and E to F, pressing seams open and flat.
- Stitch piece D to E/F. Press.
- Stitch piece A to D/E/F. Press.
- Stitch strip B/C to D/E/F/A. Press.
- Even off edges with a rotary cutter and ruler to make it a perfect rectangle.
- Use a needle and thread to create a large diagonal ladder stitch on the left edge of piece A.
- Cross stitch on the seam between B & C.
JOANN HACKS:
- As you piece together your patchwork rectangles and squares, remember to trim and square off each section so that the seam lines are straight.
- If you feel like the finished piece is too large for the frame, you can always trim off extra from each edge (if you would like to see the unfinished edges better).
- For a more unfinished look, you can also rough up and fray the edges more or even leave the quilt block untrimmed and uneven.
