SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Embroidery floss
  • Beads
  • Craft needle to fit through beads
  • Lanyard clip
  • Scissors
  • Tape

DIRECTIONS:

  1. To determine the length needed to cut your embroidery floss strands, measure how long you want your lanyard and multiply by 5.
  2. Choose 3-5 colors to make your spiral lanyard, and cut those the same length.
  3. Cut strands and tie them together with an overhand knot at one end.
  4. Tape the knot to a table.
  5. Decide which color you want to begin your spiral, this will be your working strand.
  6. Take the working strand and pass it over the other strands and loop it back through to make a knot. Pull this knot to the top.
  7. Repeat step 6 for 7-15 times or until desired length of that color.
  8. Decide on your second color for the spiral and repeat steps 6 and 7.
  9. Continue until you reach the desired length changing colors of your choice.
  10. NOTE: as you make these knots, the pattern will spiral on its own.
  11. Once you have desired length, make another overhand knot at the end and attach the lanyard clip.
  12. Tie both sides to clip on each side of the lanyard to clip a mask loop to each end.
