SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • Scrapbook or Construction Paper
  • School Glue
  • Extra Wide and Regular Sized Popsicle Sticks
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Scissors

DIRECTIONS:
  1. Measure and cut out 4 rectangles from paper: 3"x 1 1/2", 4"x 2", 5"x 2 1/2", and 6"x 3".
  2. Turn paper right side down. Fold over left and right top corners to the bottom center of the rectangle as if making a paper airplane. Paper should now be in the shape of a triangle.
  3. Snip off approximately 1/4" from top of the 3 largest triangles.
  4. Starting from the bottom of stick, open the flaps of each triangle and wrap around the stick. Overlap all the triangles around the stick and top off with the unclipped triangle. Glue flaps of triangles to stick.
  5. With a new shade of green paper, place the corner of the paper inside a triangle and trim it so that some of the paper sticks out, creating a new color stripe.
  6. Add glue and glue inside. Do that for all three rows.
  7. For the fringe, cut a strip of crepe paper the length of each triangle and a 1/2" thick. Cut tiny snips in the strip along the edge, making the fring, and glue this into each triangle.
  8. Draw or trace a small circle on gold or yellow paper and cut out to make a star. Glue on top of tree.

JOANN HACKS:
  • Draw triangles on reverse side of paper, so you can double check your measurements before cutting out.
