DIRECTIONS:
FOR THE GHOST'S SUIT:- Follow Simplicity® S8528.
- Make the jacket and pants in your preferred size.
- We used The Witching Hour Costume Knit Fabric Black White Stripe.
FOR THE GOTH GIRL DOG:
- Cut out the pattern pieces for McCall's M7850 Pattern, View D. Use the red sheer polka dot fabric for the skirt and overskirt; and cut out an additional 5 overskirt pieces for a total of 6 overskirt pieces.
- Before beginning the sewing instructions as printed, place a corner of the red sheer polka dot fabric down over the neckline of the main back piece, making a triangle with the sides lining up with the shoulder pieces. Pin in place and trim the sheer fabric to match the neckline edge.
- Do the same for the two main front pieces, making half a triangle on each front piece.
- Sew the sheer fabric on top of the main pattern pieces; do not worry about finishing the edges.
- Follow the sewing instructions for View D; finish all 6 overskirt pieces with narrow hems as instructed.
- Place and sew the skirt and overskirt as instructed. Place and sew an additional overskirt underneath the first.
- Baste the top edge of the remaining four overskirt pieces. Gather the edges of the remaining overskirt pieces by pulling at ends of your basted threads to make a ruffle trim. Place each of the ruffle pieces along an edge of triangle neckline; front and back ruffles will overlap by about 3" or so at the shoulders. Pin and sew as you did for the skirt and overskirts.
- To make the neckline sheer, go back in behind the sheer triangle pieces and cut a small hole through the lining and dress fabric, being careful not to cut through the sheer fabric. Cut the lining fabric all the way to the seam created by the ruffle stitching. Cut the main dress fabric 1/2" away from the seam, all the way around. Fold the cut main dress fabric in 1/4" towards the seam, and then 1/4" over the seam. Either sew in place, or glue in place and pin to hold as the glue dries. Repeat all the way around each sheer triangle piece, making a cut into the fabric at each corner so that you can fold it in.
