Fur Lined Flannel Throw Blanket

  • Marking Pen or Tailors Chalk
  • Optional: Large T-Square
  • Flannel: Front, 48"x 58"
  • Fur: Backing & Border, 54"x 64"

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Finished size: 50"x 60". Border with mitered corners: 1 1/2" W. SA 1/2". Cut fabric W measurement direction from selvage edges. Cut front 48"x 58". Cut back & border 54"x 64". Mark selvage sides on fabric to match direction of panels.
  2. On WS of front mark 1/2" in from each corner. Fold panels and mark centers of sides with pins. RST front and back at side center pins. Pin side matching raw edges. Pin opposite side the same. There will be excess fabric at the corners. On one side leave 6" open to turn. Sew 1/2" SA from and to 1/2" mark from corners. Repeat for adjacent sides.
  3. Hold fabric at one corner point of back. Fold adjacent sides together, WS of front together. Match raw edges of sides. The fold should go through the corner point of the front. Lay fabric on flat surface. With Quilters Rule mark a line perpendicular from the folded edge of back to the end of the seam on the back (corner of seams on front). Pin. Repeat. Sew along marks. Trim seam to 1/2". Trim corner points.
  4. Flatten blanket on ironing board, front WS up. Press side seams to border. Press corner seams open. Turn RSO. Push out corners. Fold in opening to match seam. Press. Use a walking foot to topstitch close to seam on fur border turning at mitered corner seams. Press.
