SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Fabric Scissors
- Coordinating Thread
- Paper
- Jacket
- Accent Fabric or Trim
DIRECTIONS:
- Lay your jacket collar out on the paper & trace it.
- Add 1/2" around the edges of the tracing to make a seam allowance.
- Cut out 2 of the pieces of the accent fabric with your new pattern.
- Sew the pieces together around the edges 1/2" in. Trim off the corner seam allowance.
- Turn right side out. If your fabric isn't fur & is ironable, press it.
- Pin one of the pieces open edges, good side down, along the top of the collar where it meets the jacket, seam allowance overlapping the collar and the new collar overlapping the body.
- Carefully sew along the 1/2" seam allowance, the line where the original collar is sewn onto the jacket.
- Flip the original collar into the new one.
- Pin the remaining open side down on the underside seam. This fabric has an edge that doesn't unravel, so I didn't fold under the seam allowance.
- Sew along that seam line. Trim off the excess seam allowance.
JOANN HACKS:
- Letter openers or chopsticks are great for turning corners out.
