SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Fur trim

  • stabilizer (optional)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Pillow 1: Cut front fabric 19x19 (one inch larger than finished pillow) to allow for 1/2" seam allowance. Cut 2 back patterns 24x19 (to allow for a finished overlap for envelope back) Prep envelope back by folding the 24"edges of each back panel 1" and stitch, if fleece or flannel it wont unravel, if another fabric you must create a finished edge by turning another 1" to finish, then final stitch. overlap the back pieces (stitched edges pointing to middle to create a 19x19 square (right sides facing up) pin fur trim around the pattern edges, lining the ribbon edge along the cut edge of the face fabric, notching at 1/2" on each end and one for corner to make a nice corner. Once complete around entire pillow, tuck the fur end trim into the open edge creating a fluid piece. Lay the 19x19" fabric face down over the fur trim envelope back, pinning around the entire edge. Sew 1/2" edge allowance around pillow. clip the corners and turn right side out. finished size 18x18"
  2. Pillow 2: Cut front fabric 15x15 (one inch larger than finished pillow) to allow for 1/2" seam allowance. Cut 2 back patterns 20x15 (to allow for a finished overlap for envelope back) Prep envelope back by folding the 20" edges of each back panel 1" and stitch, if fleece or flannel it wont unravel, if another fabric you must create a finished edge by turning another 1" to finish, then final stitch. overlap the back pieces (stitched edges pointing to center to create a 15x15" square (right sides facing up) If fabric skews easily, iron a piece of pelon or stabalizer to back of face fabric before sewing on trim. sew fur trim on one piece at a time, stitching right down center of fur trim (creating 2 smaller fur looks vs one bulky tube. Continue to layer fur one by one, stitching as you go, overlapping the bias fabric with the fur so you don't see the fabric beneath the fur trim. Leave 1/2" on each end for stitching. Lay the 15x15" fur panel face down over the envelope back, pinning around the entire edge. Sew 1/2" edge allowance around pillow. clip the corners and turn right side out. Finished size 14x14"
  3. Pillow 3: Cut front fabric (A) 5x17" and (B) 9x17" Cut 2 back patterns 16x17 (to allow for a finished overlap for envelope back) Prep envelope back by folding the 16"edges of each back panel 1" and stitch, if fleece or flannel it wont unravel, if another fabric you must create a finished edge by turning another 1" to finish, then final stitch. overlap the back pieces (stitched edges pointing to middle to create a 13x17" rectangle (right sides facing up) sandwich fur trim (bias tape along the raw edge) between the faces of fabrics A and B, stitch at 1/2" Lay piece AB (now sewn as one with the fur trim) face down over the envelope back, pinning around the entire edge. Sew 1/2" edge allowance around pillow. clip the corners and turn right side out. Finished size 12x16"
  4. Pillow 4: (2 of them)
  5. Cut front fabric 21/21 (one inch larger than finished pillow) to allow for 1/2" seam allowance. Cut 2 back patterns 26x21 (to allow for a finished overlap for envelope back) Prep envelope back by folding the 26"edges of each back panel 1" and stitch, if fleece or flannel it wont unravel, if another fabric you must create a finished edge by turning another 1" to finish, then final stitch. overlap the back pieces (stitched edges pointing to middle to create a 19x19 square (right sides facing up) pin fur trim around the pattern edges, lining the bias ribbon edge along the cut edge of the face fabric, notching at 1/2" on each end and one for corner to make a nice corner. Once complete around entire pillow, tuck the fur end trim into the open edge creating a fluid piece. Lay the 21/21" fabric face down over the fur trim envelope back, pinning around the entire edge. Sew 1/2" edge allowance around pillow. clip the corners and turn right side out. Finished size 20x20
  6. Throw: Cut 2 pieces of fabric 43"x60" (Piece A and B) Cut piece of batting same size as fabric, pin Piece A (face up) on top of the batting around the edges pin fur trim (fur facing toward center of piece A with bias ribbon edge along the edge, tucking the fur end trim into the open edge creating a fluid piece Place Fabric B (Face down) on top of the fur trim and piece A pinning around edges (pins can be removed and reused every layer you add Sew around the edges at 1/2" seam allowance, leaving at least a 10" opening on one of the 43"ends. clip corners of the throw, then turn the throw right side out. Finish the 10" opening with a machine stitch close to the edge, or whipstitch closed by hand. Flatten the throw and tack in multiple places to keep the 3 layers from shifting.
