SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Cotton Fabric, Two Contrasting Colors
  • Lightweight Batting
  • Basic Sewing Supplies
  • 1/2" Foam Sheet

DIRECTIONS:

NOTE:
Dimensions for the sleep sack are 20" - 25" wide depending on the pillowcase width.
Including the length of the pillowcase, the sleep sack will be 57" long.
  1. PILLOW INSERT:
    • With right sides together, sew the top and bottom sleep sack at the top edge. This forms the top of the pillow insert.
    • Turn the sleep sack back to the right sides out, marking the length of the pillow insert.
    • Press under the raw edges of the front and back of the sleep sack to form the pillow insert edge.
    • At the pillow insert markings, topstitch front and back sleep sack edges.
    • For the bottom of the pillow insert, topstitch both layers of the sleep sack and stitch across lengthwise for the bottom of the pillow insert.
    • Stitch the remaining of the front and back sleep sack together at the opening edges.

  2. BLANKET:
    • Cut the blanket to the width of your batting. The blanket should be larger than the sleep sack to your preference.
    • On the wrong side of the top blanket, topstitch the batting on the edges.
    • With right sides together, attach the top and bottom blanket around the edges, leaving the side open that will be sewn to the sleep sack.
    • Trim seam allowance and flip the blanket to the right side, baste the remaining raw edges.

  3. FINAL TOUCHES:
    • Cut four 1 1/4" x 10" straps.
    • Center the straps on the bottom edge of the sleep sack.
    • Baste the straps on the right side of the top sleep sack.
    • Attach the blanket to the sleep sack side edge and bottom edge.

JOANN HACKS:

  • Sew two straps on top of each other to have more stability for tying the sleep sack.
  • Topstitch the blanket edge for a professional look.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Instructions / fabric information / nothing is really available I'd like to make this sleep sack but there is no information on fabric amount, some of the "How to Make It' doesn't make sense. I'm a seasoned seamstress and I'm just not sure about this. Very vague. When I clicked on download pattern, nothing happens. Staff in store could not find this sack on website at all.
