Gauzy Tie Top Curtain Panels

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 6 1/2yds Gauze for 84" Panel Curtains and Ties, 2
  • Basic Sewing Supplies

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cut 2 panels 90" long (2" for top fold and 4" for bottom hem).
  2. Cut (24) 4"x 17" strips for ties.
  3. Fold 1/4" to inside on short ends of the ties.
  4. With RST, fold ties in half lengthwise, stitch 1/4" seam down the length of tie and across the folded edge leaving the short cut edge open for turning.
  5. Turn all ties, press and top stitch around three sides. No need to stitch across raw edge of strip.
  6. This will be sewn into the top edge of curtain.
  7. Fold and press the sides of the curtains 1/2" and again 1/2". Top stitch.
  8. Press top of curtain l" to inside. And again 1".
  9. Take 12 ties and place 2 ties on top of each other.
  10. Evenly pin the 6 sets across the top of curtain under the 1" hem.
  11. Stitch across top at fold to hold ties in place.
  12. Fold the ties up over hemmed top and pin. Stitch across the top so that the ties are facing up.
  13. Fold the bottom of the curtain 2" to inside and press.
  14. Fold under again 2" and press. Top stitch.
  15. Repeat for second panel.
