GHOST:
Ch 31
sc 30 across.
Row 1: Ch 1, sc across
Repeat row 1 for 8"
Row 2: Ch 1, sc 2 in first sc. sc across.
Row 3: Repeat row 1
Repeat rows 2 & 3 4 more times. (35 scs)
Repeat row 1 2 more times, place marker at the edge, repeat row 1 3 more times.
Row 5: Ensuring you are on the edge you have increased, Ch 1, Sc2tog, sc across.
Row 6: Repeat row 1.
Repeat rows 5 & 6 until 30 scs remain.
Repeat row 1 for another 8", or until both sides of the edge marker are equal lengths.
SEAM:
Starting at the non increased edge, Slip stitch two 30sc edges together and flip inside out.
With black felt, cut out two longer ovals and a smaller oval for the eyes. Feel free to experiment with different shapes and positions. With one strand of black embroidery floss, stitch the eyes and mouth onto one side of the ghost, noting that the uneven edge is the bottom of the ghost.
With right side facing, seam together the bottom uneven edge using a slip stitch or single crochet.
TOP OF GHOST:
Starting at seam join, Ch 1, evenly sc around the top of the ghost, do not join, we will be working in uninterrupted rounds. Place marker to indicate beginning of the round.
Round 1: sc 4, sc2tog around. It is all right if this cannot evenly be completed across round.
Round 2: sc 1 round plain.
Repeat row twice more.
Round 3: sc 3, sc2tog around
Stuff the ghost with polyfill.
Repeat round 3 once more
Round 4: sc 1, sc2tog around
Fasten off, cinching open top using a tapestry needle. Add more polyfill and weave in ends.
PUMPKIN:
Ch 42. Hdc into 2nd chain from the hook. Hdc across.
Round 1: Ch 2, Hdc through the back loop only into first Hdc of previous row. Hdc through the back loop across.
*Repeat Row 1 five times more
Row 2: Ch 1, sc 1. sc 1 around each post until last stitch, sc 1.
Row 3: Ch 1, Hdc across the scs of previous round.
Repeat the following 8 rows
rows 1-6: Ch 2, Hdc through the back loop only into first Hdc of previous row. Hdc through the back loop across.
Row 7: Ch 1, sc 1. sc 1 around each post until last stitch, sc 1.
Row 8: Row 3: Ch 1, Hdc across the scs of previous round.
Repeat last 8 rows for a total of 6 times. Seam foundation edge to live edge for form a tube.
PUMPKIN FACE:
Cut 2 triangles for the pumpkin eyes, one triangle for the nose and a long smile from black felt. Sew face onto the textured ridge side of the piece.
PUMPKIN BASE:
At bottom edge, join yarn at any point. sc around to form base, working 1 sc for roughly every two rows. Final stitch count is not important, the goal is to begin bunching the base of the pumpkin. Do not join.
Round 1: Place marker for beginning of the round, sc around
Round 2: sc 2, sc2tog around. It is all right if this cannot evenly be completed across round.
Round 3: Sc2tog around.*
Fasten off, cinching open top using a tapestry needle.
PUMPKIN TOP:
Follow instructions for base until *, filling with stuffing as you go.
Switch to dark brown or black yarn for pumpkin stem, and sc a few rounds to desired length. Fasten off, cinching open top using a tapestry needle.

Booooo!
I just finished the ghost pillow. The pattern was easy to follow and it turned out great. I used a J hook instead of a K (on accident) not sure if it made a big difference. Next time I’ll try making smaller eyes and mouth.
