SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Sewing Machine with Walking Foot

  • 36" x 3yds Cheesecloth, White
  • 1yd Netting, White
  • 1 1/2" x 10" Grosgrain Ribbon, White or Cream
  • Wide Headband, White, 1
  • Quick Grip Adhesive
  • Fabric Clips

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cut the 36" W cheesecloth: 1 each, 21", 24", 27" & 30". Cut one edge straight (top) and one edge irregular (bottom). Pull at the bottom edges to distress the cheesecloth.
  2. Gather the top edges of all the cheesecloth panels to 6" with stitching 1/4" from the edge.
  3. Layer panels onto the ribbon and secure the top edges together with a wide zig zag stitch. Lay the ribbon WSU on a flat surface. Lay the top edges of fabrics 1/4" onto one long edge of ribbon. Pin and sew two panels at a time. Center on the length of ribbon.
  4. Fold back ribbon to trim all top edges of cheesecloth close to stitching. Fold ends of ribbon back to ends of fabric panels. Fold ribbon length down over layers of fabric. Zig zag stitch along the long edge of ribbon to secure over the fabric.
  5. Mark the center of the length of ribbon. Mark the center of the headband. Match centers. Apply Quick Grip adhesive to the WS of ribbon (side with multiple rows of stitching). Place the folded edge of ribbon flush to the front of the headband. Match centers. Hold in place with clothespins until adhesive has set.
  6. 5-6" from the headband add a few hand stitches close to the edges of the three layers.
  7. Place the headband onto the head with the folded edge of ribbon facing front. Flip the 30" panel of cheesecloth over the face.
