Thanks to its sturdy stainless steel frame, you can smoothly cut through one layer of fabric, needlework yarn, embroidery threads and more. Use the fine pointed tip to snip tight threads in a snap. These embroidery scissors feature double-plated chrome over nickel finish and a leather sheath.

I use these for snipping yarn when doing needle projects, but also love to keep a pair in my sewing machine drawer for snipping threads. I did notice I have been sewing so much lately that the are getting squeeky and a little stiff suddenly. I only use these new ones for thread so I'm not sure why, but in the last 2 months they have gotten a significant amount of use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed... I purchased these scissors because my "man fingers " were too tight in the scissors I already have and these were advertised as having "Large Handle". I assumed that meant larger finger holes. They don't. The finger holes are actually about the same size as my other scissors which have the added benefit of the cushion handles. I use these scissors for thread cutting and detail work while quilting. These scissors are very tight which makes accurate cutting difficult - they tend to "jump" when using them. However, they are very sharp and reasonably well finished (although the screw slot has been marred and there is a burr on the screw head). Since this review is meant to assist someone else who may be thinking of buying these scissors let me add this in case that person is looking for the same solution as I was: The scissors I already own are as sharp as the Ginghers, are as pointed as the Ginghers, are easier to pick up because of the cushion handles, are smoother to operate, and have the same size finger holes as the Ginghers. They cost less than half the cost of the Ginghers. Unfortunately, I gave the old ones to my wife and now she won't give them back!
