DIRECTIONS:
- Upcycled Granny Square Blanket (thrift store find or blanket you own)
- Or
- 4 Skeins Big Twist™ for Granny Squares
- Size H Crochet Hook (or size of your choosing)
- 1/2yd Fleece, Cotton or Flannel for Lining
- Basic Sewing Supplies
- Optional: Fray Check
DIRECTIONS:
- For the upcycled granny square blanket: Fold the blanket in half with RST.
- To find the downloadable pattern click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.
- Pin the stocking pattern to blanket, centering the squares to fit pattern.
- Stitch around pattern about 1/2" out from edge You might have to do this two times to make sure you have securely stitched the two pieces together.
- Carefully trim seam leaving at least 1" edge.
- Fray check the edges if desired.
- Turn.
- If you want to make your own granny squares, make at least 20 squares.
- Crochet the granny squares together using the stocking pattern for placement.
- We used approximately a 5" to 6" granny squares, crocheting them together with two at top working down to toe where we crochet together 4.
- Make 2. One for front and one for back.
- After making squares and crocheting them together pin them together with RST and follow above instructions for stitching together.
- Cut 1 - from lining 3"x 8" hanger for stocking.
- Fold in half lengthwise and sew a 1/4" seam. Turn, Press.
- or crochet a hanger: Make a chain about 8" long and sc in each chain for 4 to 5 rows.
- Fold hanger in half and pin to top of stocking.
- Cut 2 - lining using pattern.
- With RST, Stitch a 1/2" seam around lining leaving an opening on side for turning.
- With RST, place lining over stocking and stitch around top of stocking.
- Turn through opening of lining.
- Stitch opening closed.
- Insert lining into stocking.
