SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Air dry clay (Shades of red, yellow, tan, fall colors)
- Leaf cookie cutters
- Rolling pin or smooth cup
- White cotton twine
- Wood beads
- Foam letters
DIRECTIONS:
- Use solid colors or mix colors to create swirled clay.
- Roll flat on work surface around 1/4" thick.
- Using a leaf cookie cutter cut clay into shapes.
- Poke hole into top of the leaves for stringing.
- Follow air-dry clay packaging for drying instructions.
- String beads and clay shapes to create a garland.
- Add foam letters to spell gratitude words.
JOANN HACKS:
- When adding words, you can lightly press the leaf shape onto the clay to get your guides on where to place the letters. Stamp with your word and then cut out with the cutter after stamping (when stamping, the pressure will distort the shape so if you stamp it first, it will help the clay keep its shape).
- Also take into account that the stamping will cause the clay to get thinner so you can adjust and roll the clay thicker for stamped shapes.
