Halloween Cape

Child's Short (A)

• 1yd main fabric

Child's Long/Adult Short (B)

DIRECTIONS:

Child's Short (A) with ruffle collar:

1. Cut (1) pattern template A on fold from main fabric and (1) from lining fabric.
2. Cut (1) 8"x 48" strip from collar fabric A, and (1) 12"x 48" strip from collar fabric B.
3. Nest pom pom trim together and pin to right side of main cape fabric, lining up the tape edge of trim with the raw edge of fabric. Baste in place.
4. With right sides together, pin main cape fabric to lining fabric, tucking pom pom trim inside. Sew along sides and bottom, leaving neck open to turn. Turn right side out.
5. Top stitch 1/4" in along both side seams.
6. With right sides up, place 8" collar strip on top of 12" collar strip. Sew a gather stitch along top. Gather to fit neck opening. Pin in place along neck opening, baste in place.
7. Find center of 1yd of bias tape and pin to center of neck opening, tucking raw edges of neck opening and collar into the bias tape. Top stitch bias tape in place. Top stitch bias tape closed on both ends that extend beyond the neck opening to form cape ties. Tie a knot in each end of bias tape ties.

For Child Long/Adult Short (B) and Adult Long (C):

1. Cut (2) Pattern Template B or C from main fabric and (2) from lining fabric.
2. Sew seam at center back as marked.
3. Proceed as instructed for Child Short (A).

For Standing Collar Option:

1. Fuse collar fabric to lightweight fusible interfacing per packaging instructions.
2. Cut (2) pattern template D. Fold and press under lower edge of one collar piece. With right sides together, sew along sides and top as marked. Turn and press.
3. Once cape and cape lining have been sewn together, turn and press. Pin raw unturned edge of collar to neck opening of cape. Stitch collar to cape, leaving folded edge of collar free. Tuck raw edge of neck opening under folded edge of collar. Hand stitch folded edge of collar in place. Cut (2) 18" pieces of bias tape or cord and attach to each end of the neck opening to form ties.
