DIRECTIONS:
FOR CORNHOLE BOARDS:- Measure the cornhole boards and find the center lengthwise.
- Lightly draw a line from top to bottom with your pencil.
- Starting at the top find the center at the top of the opening and make a mark.
- Place the first piece of the painter's tape on that centerline going up to the top of the board.
- Find the center of the hole on the sides and make a pencil mark.
- Place a strip of the tape centered on each side of the hole going outwards to the edge of the cornhole boards.
- Now you have tape placed at 9:00, 12:00 and 3:00 on the circle.
- Place another strip of tape in between 9:00 and 12:00 and then also between 12:00 and 3:00.
- Now find the center on the bottom of the circle and make a mark.
- Place tape on each side of that center mark and go towards each corner.
- Place another strip of tape between 9:00 and the left corner piece and then place a piece between 3:00 and the right corner piece of tape. Rub all the pieces of tape firmly in place along the edges to prevent paint from bleeding underneath.
MAKING THE ARCHES:
- You must measure evenly on both sides of the cornhole board to figure out where to start them.
- Start on the left side at the 7:00 strip of tape, that will be the base of the first arch.
- Now measure down 10 1/2" and make a mark.
- That will be the base of the next arch.
- The last arch will star at the base of the cornhole board left corner.
- Go to the centerline of the cornhole board you made earlier and make the first pencil mark at 9 1/4".
- Make the next mark at 10" down from that mark. Make the last mark at 9 1/4" form the 10" mark.
- These marks will be the height of the center arches. Use the electrical tape to make the arches.
- Because electrical tape is thinner you will need to use two pieces for each arch to be the same width as the painter's tape.
- Place the first piece of electrical tape on the board for the topside of the arch.
- Place a second piece on top of the first strip only 1/8" lower to match the width of the Washi tape.
- Trim each arch piece on the vertical strips only. Once you have all the arches in place, step back and look to make sure they are evenly arching on both sides.
- Now you are ready to paint. Paint the base color first and let it dry.
- Use your Cricut machine, with the cardstock cut out three numbers, 3,2,1. Make them 4" x 3"
- In the center of each open area in the middle, tape down the stencil for each number.
- Use a pencil and outline each number. Remove the stencil.
- Use the acrylic paint and with a detail brush paint each number.
- Now paint the sides a complimentary color.
- Use the painter's tape to mask out a 1/8" border on the top face surface of the board.
- Paint it to match the side color.
- When painting by the tape, make sure you brush away from the paint so not to push paint underneath the taped areas.
- Remove the tape once it is dry.
FOR SPIDER BEAN BAGS:
- Upload Spider Face SVG for cutting machine software, scale as needed to fit 6" square bean bags.
- Cut 8 sets of faces from black and white heat transfer vinyl. Weed away excess material.
- Cut - 8 - 6 1/2" squares from black and orange fabric.
- Apply spider faces to 4 of each colored squares. Make sure vinyl is at least 1/2" away from each edge or it will be caught in the seams when sewing.
- Make 64 spider legs-
- Cut 3 - 3 yd pieces from yarn to start braiding for the legs.
- Tie the ends together with floss and braid the 3 yards.
- Tie the opposite end.
- Measure from start 4" and tie floss around braid.
- Measure from this tie 1" and tie again.
- Cut in center. This makes one leg.
- Continue to tie every 4" and again 1" to make your legs.
- Keep making the braids and cutting for legs until you have 8 legs for each bean bag.
- Use 1/2" seam allowance throughout
- Pin 4 legs to each side of right side of one spider face square, placing the cut end at the edge and lay the leg over top of bag.
- With right sides together, pin a blank square in the matching color on top and sew around leaving about 4" open on one side.
- Make 4 bags out of each color.
- Turn and fill with 1 1/2 - 2 cups of beads.
- Fold down top 1/2" and edge stitch top closed. '
