SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- 1/4yd Each of Three Printed Cottons
- 20"x 20" Piece of White Cotton
- 2/3yd Cheesecloth
- 1 Piece Black Craft Felt
- 1yd of 1/4" Elastic
- Pattern Templates (from get patterns tab)
- Thread
- Straight Pins, Needle, and Safety Pin
- Scissors
- Sewing Machine
- Iron
DIRECTIONS:
To find the downloadable patterns click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.FOR THE LEGGINGS:
- Cut two from the Pattern. With right sides together, sew center front seam. Press open.
- Fold over 1/4", then 3/8" along waist. Press and top stitch along folded edge to create casing for elastic.
- Cut 11" piece of 1/4" elastic. Attach safety pin to one end and feed through waist casing. Stitch ends of elastic in place at each end of casing.
- Sew center back seam.
- Hem bottom edge of each leg by turning under 1/4", then 1/4" again. Press and stitch in place.
- Pin and sew leg seams together, matching front and back center seams.
FOR THE GHOST COSTUME:
- Cut (1) 20"x 20" piece of white cotton and (2) 24"x 24" pieces of cheesecloth. Layer one piece of cheesecloth on top of the cotton square. The cheesecloth should overhang 2" on each side. Layer the second piece of cheesecloth on top, rotating 45 degrees. Tack all three layers together at center of cotton square. Trim edges of cheesecloth to create a wispy effect, being sure not to trim too short and expose the white cotton underlayer.
- Cut one 12 1/2" piece of 1/4" elastic. Tack both ends together, then tack in place at center of cotton square to create a chin strap.
- Cut (2) eyes from black felt using the Pattern. Tack in place approximately 2" down from center point on cheesecloth costume.
FOR THE BOW:
- Cut one 3 1/2"x 3" rectangle and one 1"x 2" rectangle from printed cotton. Fold larger rectangle in half to 1 3/4"x 3", right sides together. Stitch around the rectangle, leaving an opening along the 3" side to turn right side out. Turn right side out and press. Using a running stitch, gather the center of bow. Fold 1/4" under along both 2" sides of smaller rectangle, press. Tack in place around center of bow. Tack bow at top center point of cheesecloth costume.
FOR THE TRICK-OR-TREAT BAGS:
- Cut (2) 1"x 8" rectangles for handles. Cut (2) Pattern Template B from lining fabric. Cut 1 3/4", 1 1/2", and 2 1/2" strips 10" long from 3 different printed cottons. Sew the 1 1/4" strip to the top of the 1 1/2" strip, sew the 2 1/2" strip to the bottom of the 1 1/2" strip. Press seams open. Cut two Pattern Template from pieced rectangle.
- Fold under 1/4" along each length of handle rectangles. Fold in half, right side out. Press and top stitch along both edges. Repeat for second handle.
- Pin ends of handles along top edge of pieced bag front and back using Template guides. Stitch in place. Pin top edge of lining to top edge of pieced bag front, right sides together. Stitch in place. Repeat for back of bag. Open and press flat.
- With right sides together, pin bag front and back together, matching seams at bag front piecing and lining. Stitch around entire bag and lining, leaving a 2" opening in one of the lining sides for turning. Turn right side out, top stitch lining opening closed. Tuck lining inside bag and press flat.
JOANN HACKS:
- Once chin strap has been attached to inside of costume, it helps to put the costume on the doll to trim bottom edge of cheesecloth and place felt eyes.

Big Question
This is a really cute pattern for a doll's Halloween costume. However I can not find any information on what size doll it fits. Please add that info to the pattern. I’d like to help my granddaughter make this next week.
