DIRECTIONS:

  1. Print templates on cardstock. Use an X-Acto® knife to cut outlines of bats, circle patterns and organic shapes.
  2. Mix the orange paints to desired color. Repeat for the purple paints.

  3. Organic Shapes: Use a pencil to trace inside of shapes to transfer images to a pumpkin in a random pattern. Add a variety of sizes of circles and looping lines between template patterns. Paint images with orange, purple, gold, black and white.

  4. Bats: Use a pencil to trace inside of bat cutouts to transfer bats to white Funkin in a random pattern. Paint small bats with a small round brush. Larger bats may be painted with a 1/4" flat brush. Alternate colors, orange, purple and black. Orange and purple will need 2-3 layers of color. When dry, add contrast color dots for eyes.

  5. Striped:
  6. Use markers to draw lines from the stem to the underside of a white Funkin. Stripe gold, black then black lines, leaving white exposed between stripes. Follow the contour of the Funkin. The lines will need to widen toward the center. Antique white paint may be painted over any unwanted irregularities in lining.

  7. Moon shapes:
  8. Mix purple paint. Start with the vivid violet and add royal violet and berry red, a small amount at a time. Paint 2-3 coats of paint to Funkin. Let dry.

  9. Wrap the 28" string horizontally around the thickest part of the Funkin so the ends meet. This may not be a level line, adjust by eye to lay the string close to the center. Use a pencil to lightly transfer the line on to the Funkin. Remove the string. Use the line as the center line of the 2 1/2" circle. Transfer one set of circles onto the Funkin. Flip the pattern to transfer the upper two or lower two circles. Mark a point 1" from either side of the 2 1/2" circle, on the center line. This point is the outer edge of the next 2 1/2" circle. Apply 8 sets of circles around the Funkin. Use small artists brushes to paint rows of black and white circles. The white paint may need 2-3 coats.
