Halloween Spider Throw Pillows

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1yd orange velvet
  • 1yd spider Web netting
  • 16" pillow forms, 2
  • 9"x 12" black felt squares, 2
  • Fabri-Tac permanent adhesive
  • Assortment of embellishments: gems, beads & studs
  • Basic sewing supplies

NOTE: Makes 2 pillows
  1. Cut the following:
    • Cut (2) 17"x 17" squares for pillow tops from velvet.
    • Cut (4) 17"x 10" from velvet for backing of two pillows
    • Cut (2) 18"x 18" squares for pillow tops from netting.
    • Cut (4) 18"x 12" from netting for backing of pillows.

  2. Layer the netting on top of the velvet having the extra length of netting hanging over the edges of velvet.
  3. Pin in place and bast edges.
  4. Layer the netting for back pieces with edges over all sides. Baste around edges.
  5. Fold under the back along one long edge of each piece 1/2" and sew hem.
  6. With RST, pin back to front having the two back pieces overlap along the hemmed side to fit front pillow.
  7. Sew 1/2" seam around the outside edges.
  8. Turn pillow cover right side out.
  9. Cut 2 spiders from black felt using provided template.
  10. Use Fabri-Tac glue to adhere embellishments to the spider body.
  11. Once dry, glue spider to the front of the pillow as desired.
  12. Insert pillow forms.
