SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Scissors
- Embroidery needle
- Water soluble marker or chalk
- Denim backpack
- Embroidery thread in desired colors
DIRECTIONS:
- With a water soluble marker, draw out a design onto the pocket of the backpack. See the project image for inspiration.
- Cut a length of embroidery thread and knot one end. Trace the designs with the embroidery thread using a variety of embroidery stitches such as back stitch, running stitch, French knots, blanket stitch, etc.
- Use a blanket stitch to stitch around the flap of the backpack.
- Create 3 tassels from embroidery thread. To create a tassel, wrap the thread around 3 fingers approximately 50 times. Cut a 4" piece of thread and knot it around one end of the loops created. Hold all of the looped threads together and wrap an accent color tread around the top. Knot the thread. Trim the ends of the tassel.
- Knot the one of the tassels to the zipper of the pocket. Knot the other two to the ends of the strings of the backpack drawstring.
